Does anyone know of any sort of free automatic-update script. Sort of what Keenspace does, but without...you know...being hosted on Keenspace.

You know, they offer the autokeen script for free. You don't have to be on keenspace to use it.

I read a lot of Keenspot strips, but 'space is evil. My strip was on there for 3 days and then the site died. It's only gotten worse since I left it, so I'm glad I'm on my own site now. Autokeen lite is also kind of funky. Depending on what server you use, it can read an error in the key part of the script causing it to loop. You're better off using a PHP. They're easier to set up than a cgi and run faster. I finally started using ATP Autosite and it's the best I've seen so far. I really like how well it runs and how it makes everything look like it's running from your main page. I used the Walrus for awhile but had to mod the heck out of it. It also doesn't offer as many features as Autosite, like the ability to upload multiple files for the same day. (That was one of the first things I added.) It also only supports one file type for the archives and you have to use hyphens in the names. I like hyphens, just not in the dates.
If you're looking for update scripts, go to comixpedia's links page. They've got a good index of scripts, and I'm pretty sure most of them are free. Some people are trying to charge for some of them, but I don't see that being very profitable. |

Is there one that utilizes a calendar system for archiving?? Sort of like PVP's... I've always liked that better, as opposed to the drowpdown menu. :P

Actually, you can do that pretty easily with autosite. They have an archive page option and you can just cut the dropdown selector off your main page. I still need to do that to mine, since I didn't set some variables up right. You can do what Scarygoround does and just add a link on the main page to the starting strip in a series or a year.
